about

Make Believe Penitentiary is a driving dark pop track with catchy vocals, tank bass, big synths and hard hitting rock drums. Written from a place of acute anxiety, Make Believe Penitentiary is a song about feeling trapped inside your own head and yearning to be set free. Featuring Mat Hector on drums (Iggy Pop, Grace Jones, Razorlight) and Mark Neary on bass (Adele, Noel Gallagher, U2), Filmm combines musical influences ranging from Iggy Pop, to Nabes, to Halsey with a soundscape that could be straight out of DEVS, Yellowjackets or Severance.

lyrics

Lyrics:

All of my enemies live in my mind
They're taking me down down from the inside
All of my senses have left me behind
And I'm just a victim of my own designs

Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary
We'll snatch the keys
And we'll bribe the guards
Before you know it we'll be back at large
We'll steal a car
And drive it out to sea
And watch the sunset over the beach
Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary

I'm under the influence and over the edge
I'm livin' with monsters and I'm easily led
It's harder to fight than to lay down your arms
So put the money in the bag and no one gets harmed

Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary
We'll snatch the keys
And we'll bribe the guards
Before you know it we'll be back at large
We'll steal a car
And drive it out to sea
And watch the sunset over the beach
Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary

Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary
We'll snatch the keys
And we'll bribe the guards
Before you know it we'll be back at large
We'll steal a car
And drive it out to sea
And watch the sunset over the beach
Won't you set me free
From the make believe
Penitentiary

Sleek and bleak, with infectious toplines, Filmm writes songs to despair to. Perfect for anyone living in an episode of Black Mirror who makes for a thoroughly miserable dinner party guest.
